The Local Company - A time line

December, 1979 - Sold first phone system.
February, 1980 - First phone system installed at Danville Family Practice.
June, 1980 - Installed first PBX with 105 phones.
February, 1981 - Company incorporated as Danville Private Telephone Co. Inc.
March, 1983 - Opened branch office in Lafayette, IN.
November, 1984 - Took over service of Teleflex Company in Lafayette.
January, 1985 - Purchased building at 208 N. Jackson, Danville, IL
February, 1986 - Illinois Bell Authorized Centrex Sales Representative.
July, 1986 - Became the first down-state privately owned interconnect company to be approved as a public utility to install and service public payphones.
July, 1987 - Changed corporate name to Digital Communications, Inc.
Oct., 1987 - Opened branch office in Champaign at #4 Henson Place.
Dec., 1988 - Broke ground for new building at Eastgate Industrial Park
June, 1989 - Moved into new 6300 sq. ft. facility at 244 Eastgate Dr.
June, 1991 - Acquired Tele-Systems of Champaign at 115 W. Kirby
Aug., 1993 - Purchased building in Lafayette at 145 St. Rd. 25 West
April, 1994 - Installed our first CCIS PBX network.
Oct., 1995 - Purchased land in Urbana in partnership with MCG for new building
Oct., 1996 - New building in Urbana opens.
August, 1998 - Installed the first E-911 system in Illinois using an Ameritech ISDN-PRI and an NEC 2400.
July, 2000 - Installed the first NEC TOIP (Telephony Over IP) network with NEC 2400 and NEC 2000 systems (10 of them).
June, 2001 – Connected two Electra Elite key systems via IP trunks.
March, 2003 – Installed VOIP phones at a remote library branch.

3. Factory trained service technicians. (Largest area service department!)

4. Prompt service - Fleet of 11 vehicles. Technicians have Nextel phones to help provide 24 hour service.

5. Extensive in-house training provided on all equipment purchased from us.

As a result of these efforts, we now service over 900 business telephone systems in the Illinois/Indiana area.

GUARANTEED SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS - FACTORY AUTHORIZED DISTRIBUTOR

Unlike many other brands of telephone products, NEC equipment is only sold through factory authorized distributors. This provides the necessary factory support and back-up service that is desired by our company on behalf of our customers. We service business telephone systems in East Central Illinois and West Central Indiana. Systems we sell in other areas of the country are installed and serviced by members of the Network Equipment and Communication Systems Integrators - an Association of NEC authorized distributors.

TECHNICAL TRAINING

Our service technicians have attended many technical schools for training on proper installation and service techniques. Schools attended have been: NEC phone systems: 616,824, Mark II, Electra Professional, Elite IPK, 1400 PBX, 2000 PBX, 2400 PBX, fiber optic splicing, CCIS networking, Valcom Paging and NEC, BBX Voice Mail, Call CenterWorx ACD, and BBX ACD.
