Changing Names on the NEC Electra Elite

 

From any display phone, go into system programming. 

 

Press Feature#0*8974. Program Mode should appear in display on phone.

 

Next, press line key 4 then enter 10 from keypad. This will display the port and extension number. The port is on the left and the extension on the right. Toggle through the ports by pressing the conference button. When, the extension number to be changed appears , note the port number.

 

Press the answer button twice to return to Program Mode.

 

Next, press line key 4 and enter 18 from the keypad. The display will show port 1 and the name. Press the conference button until the port to be changed appears in the display. Use the letters on the keypad to input letters in the display. For example the number 2 has A B C on it.  Each time it is pressed it goes from one letter to the next. The first time around the letters are in upper case and the next time they are in lower case.

 

When the next letter in a name is on the same key the # key will move the cursor to the right. The hold key will erase a letter and the * key moves the cursor left.

 

There is only room for 6 letters in the name.

 

After, the name is spelled out press the transfer key to write it to memory. This also causes the program to move to the next memory block. To return to changing names, type in 18 from the keypad. The name that was just entered appears in the display. Press the conference button to toggle to the next port to be changed.

 

When all the names have been changed, press the speaker button to exit programming.
